First Team Best Warriors push each other to achieve success

May 10, 2021 — As vapors rose from our skin, exposed to the cold crisp air outside of the Anderson aquatic center at Fort Knox, Kentucky, the next words uttered were, “What’s our next hit time, sergeant?” The question was posed by Spc. James Spoerl, human resources specialist and half of the duo designated to represent the 1st Theater Sustainment Command in the Fort Knox combined Best Warrior Competition. MORE

1st TSC volunteers wrap up Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention month making SpringHaven look a little brighter

May 6, 2021 — Volunteers from the 1st Theater Sustainment Command wrapped up Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month with some community service at the SpringHaven Inc., domestic violence shelter in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, April 30. About 30 Soldiers and civilian employees delivered donations collected throughout the month, and then spent Friday afternoon conducting area beautification, which included weeding and spreading new mulch on the playground. They also weeded other gardens and planted flowers and hostas. MORE

Army Reserve Maj. Eric Hughes, deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, with the Indianapolis-based 310th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), to serve as the 1st Theater Sustainment Command's operational command post family life chaplain, speaks at an April 14, 2021 training for the camp's chaplains and enlisted religious affairs specialists. Hughes said he heard the call to ministry during his 2005-2006 deployment to Bagram, Afghanistan, as a Kansas Air National Guard staff sergeant and munitions technician assigned to A-10 Thunderbolts and AC-130s.

Temperament plays a key role in how we communicate at work, with friends, and with romantic partners. The love languages we use and our temperaments determine how we communicate. These were the main topics taught to a group of 1st Theater Sustainment Command soldiers at a Strong Bonds singles retreat held in Lexington, Kentucky, March 26-28, 2021. MORE

1st TSC completes port operations in Saudi Arabia for Logistics Exercise 21

May 3, 2021 — Soldiers deployed to support the 1st Theater Sustainment Command conducted port operations at Saudi’s King Fahd Industrial Port at Yanbu, April 19-26, 2021 as part of Logistics Exercise 21 (LOGEX). MORE

Military Working Dog Receives Emergency Care in the Sinai

May 3, 2021 — When Larry, a veteran military working dog began showing signs of severe illness, his handler Spc. Jordan Kawakami, of 89th Military Police Brigade of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri who is currently assigned to Task Force Sinai at North Camp, Sinai, Egypt knew something wasn’t right. MORE

Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Justin M. Swanson, the deputy commanding general of the 1st Theater Sustainment Command, fist pumps Spc. Demarcus Russ after the general's April 24, 2021 tour of port operation at Kuwait's Port Shuaiba. The general was thanking Soldiers for providing security during offload and onload operations, when the New Orleans native learned that the specialist with the 1st Armored Division Soldier grew up in Jonesville, Louisiana.

1st TSC Soldiers successfully precision-airdrop GPS-guided pallets in Kuwait test

April 27, 2021 — Soldiers deployed to support 1st Theater Sustainment Command's logistical support of U.S. Central Command airdropped four pallets April 22 within 75 meters of the target here in a critical test of sustainment capabilities. MORE
Riggers of the Fort Bragg, North Carolina, based 151st Quartermaster Company, deployed the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility in support of 1st Theater Sustainment Command, work to recover one of four Joint Precision Air Delivery System, or JPADS, units used to air drop four bundles  at the Camp Buehring, Kuwait, drop zone. The black device rigged between the parafoil and the payload is the Modular Autonomous Guidance Unit, or MAGU, which uses the lines of the chute to steer it to its programmed target.

1st TSC supports Month of the Military Child at Fort Knox's Kingsolver Elementary School

April 26, 2021 — 1st Theater Sustainment Command Soldiers, civilian employees and family members clapped and cheered for Kingsolver Elementary School students as they were dropped off for school April 23 at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Supporters were holding signs of encouragement to help recognize the military children who attend Kingsolver to celebrate April as the Month of the Military Child. Teachers and members of the school’s Parent Teacher Organization also wore purple shirts as a sign of support. MORE
