Readout of Commander, U.S. Central Command, Gen Frank McKenzie's call with Lebanon Armed Forces Commander, Gen Joseph Aoun

August 6, 2020 — Capt. Bill Urban, spokesman for U.S. Central Command, provided the following readout: Gen. Frank McKenzie, Commander, U.S. Central Command, spoke with Lebanon Armed Forces Commander, Gen. Joseph Aoun, to express condolences for the loss of life and devastation caused by the explosion in Beirut's port facility. Gen McKenzie informed Gen Aoun of the impending delivery of three C-17s shipments of U.S. relief supplies including food, water, and medical supplies. Gen McKenzie expressed U.S. willingness to continue to work with the Lebanese Armed Forces to help provide aid and assistance to meet the needs of the Lebanese people during this terrible tragedy. Gen McKenzie expressed a desire to continue to partner with the Lebanese Armed Forces, the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, and USAID to identify and expedite support for Lebanon's recovery effort. The generals ended the call by agreeing to continue a close dialogue as the recovery effort continues. MORE

U.S. Navy Escorts Army Logistics Support Vessels Out of 5th Fleet after 20 Year Tour of Duty

August 5, 2020 — U.S. Navy warships assigned to U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT), escorted two U.S. Army Frank S. Besson class logistics support vessels (LSV), assigned to U.S. Army Central Command (ARCENT), as they transited out of the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations (AOO), July-August. The two LSVs, Major General Charles P. Gross (LSV 5) and Specialist 4 James A. Loux (LSV 6), had been forward deployed to the region for 20 years in support of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) tasking, and were departing Kuwait as a result of an Army-wide restructuring and asset allocation. Partnerships and interoperability continue despite COVID-19 challenges

July 31, 2020 — Leaders from the 1st Theater Sustainment Command, 311th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), 3rd Medical Command Forward and Kuwaiti Col. 1st TSC welcomes new command sergeant major

July 31, 2020 — The 1st Theater Sustainment Command welcomed a new command sergeant major during a change of responsibility ceremony here July 28. Command Sgt. Maj. Michael J. Perry III assumed responsibility as the senior enlisted leader of the command from Command Sgt. Maj. Bernard P. Smalls Sr., who served as the command sergeant major for almost two years. The ceremony was presided by Maj. Gen. John P. Sullivan, commanding general, 1st TSC, who emphasized the significance of this transition. MORE

A Forgotten Legacy Restored

July 31, 2020 — As he readies for his picture to be taken, a smile stretches from ear to ear. The commissioned officer stands tall with his shoulders drawn back, chest slightly puffed, uniform coat displaying his ribbons and medals. In his hands he grasps a prestigious award unknown to most.
