1st TSC Mascot Handlers Keep Alive a 118-Year Tradition

January 24, 2018 — The tradition of using a mule as an Army mascot began in 1899 when an officer at the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot decided the service needed something to counter the Navy goat for the 1899 rivalry game between the two service academies. In the early 1970s, the 1st Corps Support Command (COSCOM), the unit which was re-designated as the 1st TSC in 2006, adopted a mule as its mascot to carry on this tradition. MORE
Maj.Gen. Flem "Donnie" Walker, Jr. Commanding General of the 1st Theater Sustainment Command feeds Cpl. John "Huck" Blackjack an alfalfa cookie in his stall at the Providence farm. Cpl. Blackjack serves as the 1st TSC official mascot, making appearances at many command events.

Soldiers Return Home in Time for Christmas

December 13, 2017 — The 1st TSC deploys its Soldiers into three teams, Red, White and Blue. During the time Red Team deployed, they enhanced ammunition storage capacity, streamlined customs processing, increased force protection, decreased repair time for critical combat systems, and improved transportation contracts, saving millions of dollars. 1st TSC Soldiers Deploy to Kuwait

November 30, 2017 — Over 30 members of the 1st Theater Sustainment Command (TSC) said goodbye to their families, friends, and unit team members Nov. 30 at a deployment ceremony held at Sadowski Center on post. MORE
FORT KNOX, Ky - Soldiers salute for the National Anthem during the deployment ceremony at the Sadowski Center on post. The deployment team is comprised of Soldiers and Department of the Army Civilians, deployed to Kuwait where they will assume the Strategic Operations and Plans mission. The members known as the White Team will replace the Red Team, which is scheduled to redeploy in mid December.

1st TSC Gives Back

November 15, 2017 — 1st TSC leadership and family readiness group partnered with the Fort Knox chapter of the Red Cross and launched an initiative they called 1st TSC Gives Back. MORE
