Soldiers from the U.S. Army’s 1st Theater Sustainment Command provided key logistics and sustainment support to partner members of the U.S. Air Force's 332d Air Expeditionary Wing, as they conducted a two-day training exercise in Southwest Asia on September 27-28, 2022.

The training event, designated Oktober Fist 2022, was designed around Agile Combat Employment at a Forward Operating Site (FOS) and involved the ability to assemble the necessary logistics and effectively deploy an MQ-9 Reaper, F15E Strike Eagle, and an HC-130 Combat King II aircraft with little notice in an austere environment.

Showcasing joint coordination among the services, logisticians from the 1st TSC supported the exercise by providing fuel coordination support to the 332d AEW, along with Class I storage (food), power generation and communications support for their Tactical Operations Center, airfield vehicle support, material handling equipment support, and usage of a Logistics Support Area.

Much like the recent example of 1st TSC Soldiers supporting and partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps in early September to execute a Maritime Prepositioning Force offload operation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during Operation Native Fury 2022, this current partnership with the 332d AEW further enables the 1st TSC to validate their role as a leader in providing sustainment operations throughout the entire U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility.

The 1st TSC regularly provides anticipatory, flexible, and responsive theater distribution and materiel management to support Army, Joint, Interagency, and multinational forces to enable unified land operations in support of combatant command directives.

The command has a lean but highly effective task organization, representative of our Total Army, which encompasses the complete spectrum of sustainment to include logistics, health service support, financial management, personnel services, as well as garrison base support operations.

The CENTCOM AOR provides key terrain and a dominant position for the U.S. to strategically compete through a range of security cooperation ventures including border security, counter narcotics, counter terrorism, and defense institution building activities that allow the U.S. to maintain its status as the partner of choice in the region.
