FORT KNOX, Ky. --

Soldiers of the 1st Theater Sustainment Command supported U.S. Army recruiting efforts Sep. 6, 2022, during a visit to the Meade County High School in Brandenburg, Kentucky. Recruiters from U.S. Army Recruiting Command and Soldiers from the 1st TSC discussed the opportunities available in the Army and shared their experiences with hundreds of students.

“It’s great to see junior Soldiers that have graduated from Basic Combat Training not too long ago share what the training is like nowadays. The Soldiers’ recent experiences really give good insight into what to expect for anyone that might be interested in joining,” said Staff Sgt. Eric Bailey, recruiter, 3rd Brigade, USAREC.

Spc. Tigermichaela Alicea, a human resources specialist with the 1st TSC, shared how the Army is helping her work toward her life goals. “I really missed my family when I went to Basic Training and was homesick for a while, but the people you meet everywhere you go are amazing. The friends I’ve met in the Army are the best friends that I’ve ever had. It’s one of the best parts of joining. I’m around more positive people than I was before I joined and am on the path to becoming an orthodontist,” Alicea said.

The Soldiers had discussions with students throughout the day as each period brought in a new group of students. Many of the students had specific questions about jobs and educational benefits, others were interested in hearing about the different places the soldiers had traveled to around the world.

Spc. Piere Ba, an intelligence analyst with the 1st TSC, shared his role in the unit and how joining positively impacted his life. “I really enjoy traveling to new places. I’ve already seen some great places in the Middle East. I’ve already had the opportunity to travel to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and lots of place in the U.S. I’m currently working on applying for the Green to Gold Program. There’s just so many opportunities to progress your career.”
