FORT KNOX, KY --
FORT KNOX, Ky. -- A 1st Theater Sustainment Command Soldier died as a result of a motor vehicle accident on the Bluegrass Parkway in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Aug. 16.
Sgt. Dontrez A. Dawson, 27, whose home of record is Vine Grove, Kentucky, was struck by another vehicle and died from injuries sustained during the accident at the scene.
Dawson entered the Army as a human resources specialist in January 2017, and has been assigned to the 14th Human Resources Sustainment Center, 1st Theater Sustainment Command Special Troops Battalion, 1st TSC, since June 2017.
Dawson’s awards and decorations include two Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, three Certificates of Achievement and Marksmanship Qualification Badge – Expert with machine gun.
Dawson deployed to Kuwait with the 1st Sustainment Command Forward from July to October 2019.
The loss of our teammate, Sgt. Dawson, is an incredible blow to not only the unit, but the greater Fort Knox community,” Lt. Col. Kibitlewski, battalion commander, 1st TSC STB. “He was an incredible person, Soldier, and teammate, and our thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and friends.
The unit will host a memorial ceremony for Dawson at Fort Knox’s Pritchard Chapel Aug. 26.
