Joint Sustainment Symposium with Jordanian Armed Forces

AMMAN, JORDAN --

Officers from the 1st Theater Sustainment Command (TSC) and the 157th Military Engagement Team conducted a Sustainment Staff Exchange with Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) Logistics, Transportation, and Procurement directorate officers at the JAF Logistics Headquarters, Sept. 16-20.

The enthusiastic discussions during the Sustainment Staff Exchange discussed the employment of the Brigade Support Battalions and Forward Support Companies, logistics support estimates, and civil considerations pertaining to logistical support. The U.S. team gained an improved understanding of JAF logistical structure and capability that should increase sustainment interoperability between the U.S. and JAF Teams.

Brig. Gen. Abdallah Hassan Abdallah Huneiti, chief of planning directorate for the JAF welcomed the exchange of logistical information:

"I am very happy to see the logistics partnership; it is very much needed in Jordan,” Huneiti said.

The 1st Theater Sustainment Command actively engages with regional partners routinely to improve sustainment interoperability and strengthen partnerships in the region. Combined events like these enhance the professional relationships, training and overall coordination among allies in the region.

Lt. Col. Joshua Baxter, sustainment staff exchange team leader, 1st Theater Sustainment Command spoke highly about the mutual exchange of positive dialogue between the two countries.

“I greatly appreciate the motivation and interest by the JAF Team, as well as their own knowledge and experience,” Baxter said. “Both sides brought their A-Teams to the meetings to learn and benefit from each other.”

The sustainment exchange has met three times this year. The JAF officers attending said they have sincere interest in the continual logistical development of the Jordanian Armed Forces.
